- Description
Takahashi Shin was born in 1940 in Kagawa Prefecture to be a Japanese-style painter. He studied painting techniques under the late Fukuōji Hōrin, who served as a director of the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Art Institute). He is currently active as a member of the Nihon Bijutsuin. He specializes in landscape paintings with soft brushstrokes.
This work is one of such landscape paintings by Takahashi Shin. It is so beautifully rendered that the audience can almost hear the sound of a waterfall, cascading down mountains in the midst of a deep fog. The pine tree at the lower-left corner of the picture is depicted in a darker color than its rest to interestingly communicate a sense of perspective.
