- Description
This is a landscape painting by Iio Takeshi, who skillfully used sumi ink for the realistic depiction on silk. Artists have long said: Washi paper is the art of bleeding, silk is the art of shade. Their difference in material characteristics has been a major factor in expression for painters. Iio Takeshi, in this work, made the utmost advantages of silk to skillfully use the shade of sumi ink, which thus express foggy mountains and lakes, creating his own worldview. The houses and fields in the foreground, on the other hand, are depicted in a realistic manner. Iio Takeshi is well versed in Western-style painting, making his work seems to indicate such a spirit. This is a true masterpiece under the great combination of elements in Western-style painting with a base of Japanese-style painting.
