- Description
This is a painting of the Hokki-ji Temple by Keiji Yamazaki. The grass flowers are depicted with soft brushwork in contrast to the strong brushwork of the pagoda. The scene maintains them in balance. The cherry blossoms are painted with pink mixed with white, and the grass is painted with a vivid green color.
They beautifully express the gentle spring sunlight. Although we tend to see the image of the Hokki-ji Temple as desolate, the scene has a lively atmosphere as expressed by Keiji Yamazaki. This is a heartwarming work.
