- Description
Keiji Yamazaki often chooses cherry blossoms as the object for painting, and his way of depiction varies depending on the work. This is a painting of the spring scenery in Okutama which is a mountainous region located along the Tama River, at the extreme western end of Tokyo. This painting is composed as if we’re looking down from a high position upon the cherry trees and the Tama River. This composition is unique and very interesting. The cherry blossoms are depicted slightly, and abstractly. This depiction implies the characteristics of cherry blossoms that they fall quickly and remind us of transience. This feat of Keiji Yamazaki, which appeals to our sentiment, is very impressive.
