- Description
Kametani Kakushō is a calligrapher in Japan. He has studied calligraphy since he was 6 years old. Nowadays, he has acquired a good reputation even overseas.
Kawahito Katsunobu, a Japanese-style painter, is famous for painting with lively lines.
This work is a collaboration between Kawahito Katsunobu & Kametani Kakushō. Snow-covered scenery is expressed by unpainted space, and this expression is wonderful but very difficult.
In Japan, “gasan” refers to a poem written in a blank space, usually on the upper part of a painting. Looking at this painting (“ga”) of Kawahito Katsunobu, Kametani Kakushō wrote the poem (“san”) on it. (The poem itself was written by Matsuo Bashō). We can sense that they enjoyed beautiful snow scenery together.
