- Description
The gentle ridge line of the mountain slightly reflects the light of the sunrise. Red Mt. Fuji, which looks like it’s floating, is an awe-inspiring sight. The depictions of the golden cloud and the pine trees give an auspicious atmosphere to this work. The deep and vivid color is unique to “iwa-enogu” (mineral pigments) and very beautiful. This miraculous scene of Mt. Fuji was beautifully painted by Katō Tomo with great sense and technique. We can see the particular taste of a Japanese-style painting, which is created by the repeated use of iwa-enogu, such as cinnabar, rokushō, and so on. We can also see the glitter of gold paint here and there. He shows himself at his best in this painting.
