- Description
“Senshin” is a Zen word to stand for “the removal of dust in mind to keep it pure at all times.” Buddhism is aiming at “enlightenment” attained to “become a Buddha,” at which the mind must be as pure and unclouded as crystal clear water. Such a phrase, as short as 2 letters, implies the deep admonition to keep constant cleanliness in mind, in addition to in appearance.
This work was written by a modern Zen monk Tomita Kokuhō, who is even popular as a calligrapher, wishing for the cleanliness of mind among everyone. With the audience, now, the beautiful calligraphic style is seemingly communicating the phrase’s meaning.
