Tsuji Jōkan is the chief priest at the Kisshōji Temple under the Daitoku-ji school of the Rinzai sect, located in Gifu Prefecture. He was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1948. This work features the character for “Yume,” written in a vigorous calligraphic style. The vigor of the calligraphy has no feeling of loneliness, due to the calligraphy’s momentum. This work represents Tsuji Jōkan’s wish for everyone to find hope in any situation.
