The Chichibu region is a mountainous region located on the far western end of Saitama Prefecture. The region has a lot of varied, beautiful natural scenery, so Keiji Yamazaki often paints the scenery.

This is a painting of the autumn scenery of Chichibu Mountains. The maple-leaves turn gradually crimson. All of the other things are painted with “sumi” (ink), so the colors of the leaves are very conspicuous. This painting is composed as if we’re looking down from a high position upon the trees and the river. This composition is unique and very interesting. This is a work in which we can feel the signs of autumn.
