I recently had the pleasure of visiting Art Nomura, Kobe. I was interested in buying some traditional Japanese scroll paintings (kakajiku). I was warmly welcomed by the the entire family and shown great hospitality, a perfect way to view various examples of styles and themes. The family’s patience and hospitality made the experience one of the highlights of my trip to Japan. Tomoko spoke excellent English and was able to explain the various pieces and the family was very fair in their pricing. In the end, I purchased 4 scroll paintings, which they pressed and packaged for my trip home. After shopping, the family was kind enough to treat me to a delicious sushi lunch. Art Nomura is the place for kakajiku and I would recommend it to anyone interested in Japanese art. The quality of their artist is exceptional and their selection is excellent.
Souvenir / Lovely Guest from the USA
2 days ago, we had a lovely guest from the USA. His name is Daniel-san. He came to Kobe city for his business and dropped in at our store and the gallery.
What a nice surprise! It was our first time to welcome a guest from overseas.
He was looking for Japanese souvenirs for himself, his family and friends. His favorite art motif was owl and sparrow and he bought some hanging scrolls, an incense holder and a miniature folding screen.
While our staff does the packing, we went for a lunch together.
It is a local Sushi restaurant called “Masuda-ya” (Approx. 10mins walk from us.)
Our town, Tarumi is a fishing-village that is located in the western Kobe. You can enjoy fresh seafood at a reasonable price. (Sushi, Sashimi and of course Japanese food like Tempura) Highly recommended for lunch and early dinner. (Last call for food is at 20:00pm)
Thank you for coming all the way here, Daniel-san! We had a wonderful time.
We received a heart-warming review on TripAdvisor page from Daniel-san. Thank you so much!!
