- Description
This work is a painting of a kingfisher drawn on silk by Miyake Eisai, who was specialized in Kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting). Miyake Eisai often depicts a kingfisher that perches on a stake on the water’s edge, but the styles of the one drawn on Japanese paper and the one drawn on silk are very different, and it is interesting to compare the differences. Miyake Eisai uses a fine touch on silk to increase its elegance and uses a vigorous touch on Japanese paper to increase its strength. You can see a wide range of paintings of Miyake Eisai. In this work, the refreshing colors make you feel the coolness of the waterside in summer, and it is a work suitable for enjoying in summer.
