- Description
Iris blooms beautiful flowers such as purple, blue, and white in early summer. That flower is familiar to Japanese people and has a history of being displayed in one of Japan’s five festivals, the Boys’ Festival.
In this work, the fresh iris flowers are painted by Ogiso Shōun in refreshing colors. The depiction of the leaves drawn vigorously with gentle curves gives a feeling of vitality and dynamism. This artwork captures the very moment when a kingfisher crosses over the beautifully blooming irises. It is also interesting that it gives a feeling of tension to the screen.
