- Description
Kamikōchi in Nagano Prefecture, which is one of the most scenic spots in Japan, has often been drawn as a set with Taishō Pond famous for Tachigare no Ki (dead tree from a past volcanic eruption), but it is rarely drawn as a landscape of autumn dusk like this work.
In this work, Kawamura Kanpō depicts Hodaka Mountains in a deep fog and Taishō Pond, which fantastically reflects the mountain surface, against the backdrop of the sunset sky. The dead tree that rises high from the surface of the water becomes accent and brings intonation to the painting. By drawing the autumn leaves in the mountains in gold, you can imagine how the autumn leaves are illuminated by the setting sun, and it is very interesting. It can be said that it is a mysterious work in which you can feel the autumn dusk of nature.
