- Description
Yuki Bishū has a deep knowledge of haiku (Japanese style poetry) and draws the scenes of various haiku. This work is of colorful morning glories painted by Yuki Bishū. With that picture, a haiku of morning glory by Kagano Chiyojo, a master of haiku in the Edo period is written. The content of the haiku is as follows.
I got up early, went to the well, and found morning glory was bloomed entwining the well bucket. It’s a pity to take the beautifully blooming morning glory, so I left the well bucket and went to the neighborhood to get water.
Kagano Chiyojo is known to have loved morning glory, and this haiku also shows that. Interestingly, the morning glory of this artwork looks even more adorable by adding this haiku.
